Bill and Melinda Gates on COVID-19
Bill and Melinda Gates spoke about the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic during a virtual conversation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. They talked about the role their foundation was playing in developing a vaccine to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Melinda Gates said she was hopeful a vaccine would be available by 2021. Bill Gates said the European scientific community was filling a void left by the United States, and he criticized the U.S. response saying, “this was a failure to get ready,” in regard to testing. The Gateses also stressed the importance of an internationally coordinated response to deliver a vaccine equitably, once it has been created. Well, this won't be the last PANDEMIC that we face PANDEMICS can come from NATURAL causes which are largely coming across from other species a FLU, for example, is still VERY BIG RISK. So we will have to prepare for the next one that I would say will get attention this time both Bill and Melinda gates smile with joy. KEY POINTS • Bill Gates in the interview forgot to say that pandemics can be causes as bio terrorism, released on purpose or lab-made he also blames species. • Bill Gates also says we will have to prepare for the next (OUTBREAK) that I would say will get attention this time both Bill and Melinda gates smile with joy.
The race for a COVID-19 vaccine, explained
One of the questions I get asked the most these days is when the world will be able to go back to the way things were in December before the coronavirus pandemic. My answer is always the same: when we have an almost perfect drug to treat COVID-19, or when almost every person on the planet has been vaccinated against coronavirus. The former is unlikely to happen anytime soon. We’d need a miracle treatment that was at least 95 Percent effective to stop the outbreak. Most of the drug candidates right now are nowhere near that powerful. They could save a lot of lives, but they aren’t enough to get us back to normal. Which leaves us with a vaccine. Humankind has never had a more urgent task than creating broad immunity for coronavirus. Realistically, if we’re going to return to normal, we need to develop a safe, effective vaccine. We need to make billions of doses, we need to get them out to every part of the world, and we need all of this to happen as quickly as possible.

Jonathan Van-Tam says UK does not recommend face masks for general wearing by the public. but to your evidence point about face masks and the wearing of face masks by the general public, this has been a controversial area in pandemic preparedness and planning for the 15 years that I've been involved in it and indeed I was on the phone this morning to a colleague in hong kong whos a professor their whos done the evidence review for the world health organization on face masks and were on the same mind but there is no evidence that general wearing of face masks by the public who are well affects the spread of the disease in our society what matters right now, of course, is social distancing and yes it is true that we do see very large amounts of mask-wearing in particularly and south-east Asia but we have always seen that for many decades and it is entirely wired in some cultures that masks are worn quite frequently in open spaces so it's very different but in terms of hard evidence and what the UK Government recommend we do not recommend face masks for general wearing by the public. KEY POINTS • Wearing masks doesn't affect the spread of COVID 19. • COVID 19 isn't air born and is just like any cold/flu. • Jonathan Van-Tam says what matters right now, of course, is social distancing • If you look at all the evidence it will make sense. • We have been lied to we've been deceived. • Most shops have closed permanently due to this if you've lost business due to this pandemic I would take action.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates discusses the global fight against the coronavirus
Well, there's the period when I and other health experts were saying that this was the greatest potential downfall the world faced. Going back quite a way with a speech in 2015 (TED) and a New England Journal of Medical article about this specific thing. So we definitely will look back and wish we had invested more. So that we could quickly have all the diagnostics, drugs and vaccines. So we under invested. Which was my goal, was to get that to happen. We did do CEPI, which helped with some of the vaccine platforms. But not even 5% to what we could have done. Then there is the period where the virus shows up in those first few months. What were the tests prepared? Did countries think through getting their ICU and ventilator capacity up? There will be time for those postmortems. Very few countries are going to get an A-grade for what that scrambling looked like, Now here we are, we didn't simulate this, we didn't practice so both the health policies and economic policies, we find ourselves in uncharted territory. KEY POINTS • We didn't simulate this, we didn't practice? Lies • 2015 TED Conference The next outbreak? We’re not ready. it is close to what's happening now BBC says • Event 201 Simulation Exercise 2 Months after a real Pandemic. • The thing that will get us back to the world we had before coronavirus is the vaccine and getting that out to all 7 billion people. • How hard it's going to be to get back to the normal life we had before Bill Gates says.
